Dave Evans MatSu faculty quote A competitive contract means that I'm more likely to stay at UAA. Having come from Down Under, where we received two pay increases per year totaling seven to nine percent, it was appalling to see we were only awarded a sliver of what senior leaders awarded themselves last year alone
picture of Jill Dumesnil with her quote faculty members in Southeast can barely afford to live in our home communities. Rent, groceries, insurance, and utilities are all rising faster than our wages. If we experience any hardship illness floods landslides staying afloat feels impossible.
I live in Employee Family and Graduate housing on the Troth Campus at UAF. This academic year my rent was increased 10 percent or two thousand three hundred four dollars. The two point five increase from my pay academic year twenty four to academic year twenty five is only two thousand eighty three dollars. We clearly need significant raises to keep up with the increased cost of living

I have been at UAF for twenty five years and a full professor for a decade or more. I just found out I am making less than a grade school teacher in Fairbanks and less than a beginning assistant professor in the lower 48. That does not make me feel valued. Anna Berge UAF professor of linguistics
Cost of living adjustments for faculty are not at equity with other universities. Faculty generate tuition dollars and trant dollars. Cost of living adjustments for us are critical to the health of the UA system. Maria Williams UAA professor of AK Native Studies

UNAC faculty are underpaid on average probably by about fifteen to twenty percent. Anthony Rickard UAF professor of mathematics education
Cost of living adjustments that begin to catch up with recent inflation make it possible for our families to stay in Alaska and contribute to its future. David Tallmon UAS professor of natural sciences
